Nathan Hendrie is an independent producer and editor based in Lawrence, Massachusetts. In 2012 he founded Tower Hill Films, a production company specializing in digital storytelling and online content. His television documentary work includes editing programs for NOVA, NOVA scienceNOW, Frontline, National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, ABC News Productions, This Old House, and A&E.
After graduating from Tufts University, Nathan worked for several years as a camera assistant on documentary shoots. He joined MDTV Productions in Newburyport, MA in 1993. There, he worked first as associate producer, and then editor on eight science and history programs for PBS. He co-produced and edited two NOVA’s, and in 2002 shot and edited Cruel Courage, a film about the civilian response to civil war in Colombia. Since 2005 Nathan has worked as a free-lance editor, working on documentaries about the Asian tsunami, Isaac Newton, stem cell research, mass extinction, a MIT robot designer, an elevator to space, killer ants, Alzheimer’s research, Mayan hieroglyphics, concussion research, the 2007 Nascar season, California's energy policy, Oliver Sacks' work with music and the brain, and terraforming Mars. In 2008 Nathan edited "Five Years on Mars" for the National Geographic Channel, which won the 2008 News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Science, Technology and Nature Programming. He edited two seasons of "This NEW House," a series produced by This Old House for the DIY Network about the future of the American Home. The 2011 season of "This NEW House" was nominated for a daytime Emmy Award for Sound Editing. He edited two seasons of Neighborhood Kitchens, a local series from WGBH about the exploration of culture through food. The 2013 season won a New England Emmy Award for Best Instructional/Informational Program. Most recently, Nathan worked on “Red Planet Rover” for the Discovery Channel, “The Vaccine War” for PBS Frontline, and "Expedition Mars" & "Curiosity: Life of a Mars Rover " for the National Geographic Channel.
